Someone Is Misusing Your Aadhaar : How To Check Aadhaar Authority (UIDAI)

If someone is misusing your Aadhaar, you can check your official Aadhaar Authentication History on the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Portal.

This service allows you to view a detailed log of every time your Aadhaar number was used for authentication in the last six months.

How to Check Your Aadhaar Authentication History.

  • Go to the Official Portal: Visit the official UIDAI website or the MyAadhaar Portal.
  • Access the Service: Look for and select the service titled "Aadhaar Authentication History".
Enter Details:
  • Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar Number or 16-digit Virtual ID (VID).
  • Enter the displayed security code (CAPTCHA).
  • Click "Send OTP".
  • Use OTP: An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar. Enter this OTP.
  • View History: On the next screen, you will need to specify the following:
  • Authentication Type: Select "All" to view all types (Demographic, Biometric, OTP, etc.), or a specific type
  • Date Range: Select the period you want to check (up to the last six months)
  • Number of Records: Choose the number of records (up to 50) you wish to view at a time.
  • Generate Report: Click "Submit" to generate the log.

Aadhaar Card History :

The generated report will show:

  • Date and Time: When the authentication was attempted.
  • Authentication Modality: The method used (e.g., OTP, Biometric, Demographic)
  • AUA Name: The name of the Authentication User Agency (the organization/service provider) that performed the authentication.

If you find any transaction that you did not initiate or recognize, it may be a sign of misuse.

What to Do if You Suspect Misuse :

If you spot any suspicious or unauthorized activity in your authentication history, you should take immediate action:

  • Contact the AUA: Note the name of the Authentication User Agency (AUA) from the log and contact them directly for details on the transaction
  • Lock Your Biometrics: For immediate security, you can lock your Aadhaar biometrics through the MyAadhaar portal or the mAadhaar app. Once locked, no one can use your biometrics for authentication until you unlock it.
  • Report to UIDAI: Immediately report the unauthorized transaction to UIDAI through their channels:
